General info and
History of ETD In November 1996 John Veloso opened the doors to Exotic Touch, a detailing shop,
in Bradford, Ontario. With his previous customization experience, and dreams,
Veloso evolved his business and ventured into the automotive aftermarket
industry in 1997. Such a leap in business lead to a change in the name. The once
Exotic Touch turned into Exotic Touch Design, a full tuner shop. As the first
few cars rolled out of Exotic Touch Design and onto the show circuit, heads
started turning. When these cars returned to the shop with trophies, the
customers rolled in. 1998 brought the boom to the import show scene in Canada.
With Exotic Touch Design bringing home more trophies than any other tuner shop,
the word started to spread. Exotic Touch Design was now known on the street as
ETD.
Veloso had accomplished his goals and fulfilled his dreams of succeeding in the
import show scene and decided it was time for a change. The change would come
early in 2000 when Veloso decided to venture into import drag racing. His choice
was aided by his excellent forecasting, seeing the show scene level off and the
race scene explode.
ETD became the first shop to sponsor a full blown import drag car and
well-known, experienced drag racer in 2000. ETD worked feverously and
energetically all winter long to unveil the first purpose-built import drag car
in Canada in February of 2001. This car proved to be a success on the track,
finishing the season as the "Quick 8" champion and went undefeated when racing
head-to-head.
ETD brought more than just the "Quick 8" champion title back to the shop. They
also captured the crown as the fastest nitrous import car in Canada using a
second ETD built import car. A Miata came on board and managed to capture the
title as fastest Miata in Canada that very same summer.
As the 2002 season began, Veloso recognized the heart of the performance
clientele in Ontario to be in the Brampton area. This brought upon a move for
ETD. Opening in Brampton was a strategic move to make the shop more accessible
for local customers and those located in New York and Quebec. This move also
finalized ETD's move from show cars and race cars to building strictly
track-bound cars.
ETD has proven time and time again success begins with perfection. This is shown
through all the accomplishments and success stories. Just ask any of our
customers, if you can catch them! |
