Racing Powder Coating on Parts
We have had comments here and there
that our stuff is not powder coated by so-called
internet "experts" who powder coat for a living.
Right... In response to that and others who
are concerned that it will chip or otherwise not last
here are some pics of the process and info on the
coating we use.
Coatings are
PPG .19mm thick (about .0075" which is seven thousands
of an inch) which provides a super strong durable
coating for all our parts. That doesn't sound
think, but in terms of coatings, it's it.
Traction bars are coated in this
exact same coating which is so durable we have taken the
bars and smashed them off a curb, the bar dented but the
coating did not chip off.
This is the machine that sprays the
coatings. Doesn't look like a spray can does it?
The gun sprays the PPG media that is
positively charged, and the hanger is grounded negative.
This causes the coating to stick to the parts with
electrostatic (kinda..) so the coating is stuck until
the baking process.
A bunch of our parts coated going
into the oven.
Everything bakes in the oven for 3-10
minutes depending on the coating and the part at a few
hundred degrees.
Everything waiting in the oven, and a
few other parts (not ours) hanging on the rack.
The final product coated in a PPG
almost chrome coating. It's super durable protects
the aluminum (or steel) and makes it look really nice
for years to come.
Feel free to email us at imstupid@etdracing.com
and tell us it's spray paint now...
